Cognitive Science Collegium, May 2026
Welcome to the Cognitive Science Collegium at the University of Gothenburg.
We are an interdisciplinary community of researchers and students of cognitive science, based at the Department of Applied Information Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology.
Cognitive science is the study of thinking and information processing in biological and artificial systems. It draws on disciplines such as psychology, artificial intelligence, linguistics, philosophy, neuroscience, and anthropology — covering phenomena ranging from perception, attention, and memory to reasoning, decision-making, and language.
Our research spans many of these areas, from social cognition and cognitive neuroscience to social robotics and AI, united by a shared curiosity about the nature of mind and intelligence.
We also run a Bachelor's Programme in Cognitive Science, which prepares students for work in areas such as human-technology interaction, user-centred design, education, and AI development — as well as providing a strong foundation for advanced studies in related fields.
